Bonnie Jean Violet (Miller) Priebe, 78, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died Friday afternoon, July 24, 2020 at her residence. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 10 A.M. at the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2038 N.E. Aloclek Drive, Suite 202 in Hillsboro, with Pastor Scott Mews, officiating. The Service will be broadcast live on http://Facebook.com/beautifulsaviorlutheranhillsboro and will remain available for later viewing. BONNIE JEAN VIOLET (MILLER) PRIEBE was born November 7, 1941 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Sylvester Miller and Mildred (Dreier) Miller. She spent most of her childhood living in Wrightstown, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of the Fox Valley Lutheran High School Class of 1959, in Appleton, Wisconsin. Upon graduation, Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper for Keller Implement, a dealer of John Deere Equipment in Forest Junction, Wisconsin. She excelled in this role and was highly valued for her bookkeeping skills, however she longed to do something more meaningful. Her prayers were answered when she got the opportunity to move to Whiteriver, Arizona to work with Apache children at the East Fork Lutheran Nursery. During her eight years there, she cherished her work greatly, and eventually became acquainted with her soon to be Father-in-Law who was working at the East Fork Lutheran School. Soon after, she was introduced to Russell “Russ” Priebe, who after hearing about her good reputation and character, came from Astoria, Oregon to propose. In 1978, Bonnie made the road trip to Astoria, Oregon to pursue her life with Russell. They were united in marriage on October 15, in the Peace Lutheran Church in Astoria, Oregon. Bonnie and Russell Priebe lived several years in rural Astoria and Warrenton, and later in Corvallis, before settling in Forest Grove in 1999. This past October, they celebrated their 41st Wedding Anniversary. Among her special interests, Bonnie enjoyed reading mystery novels and studying God’s Word. She was an active member of the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Some of her favorite places to frequent during her time in Forest Grove were the Forest Grove Library and Main Street Pizza in Banks. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Mildred Miller; her sister, Bev McCormick; her son, Curtis Priebe and her nephew, Leon Treichel. Survivors include her husband, Russ Priebe, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; her sister, Beatrice “Beatty” Ambrosius, of De Pere, Wisconsin; and her daughter, Susan Grove, of Vancouver, Washington. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews, Lois Vanbeek, of Kaukana, Wisconsin; Lisa Johnson, of Little Suamico, Wisconsin; Tracy Mason, of Wrightstown, Wisconsin; Scott Treichel, of Little Suamico, Wisconsin; Sean McCormick, of Belleville, Illinois, and Kelly Hall, of Marshall, Wisconsin; as well as her five grandchildren, Crystal Grove, of Vancouver, Washington; twins, Jenny Priebe, of Astoria, Oregon and Jasa Priebe-Diaz, of Astoria, Oregon; Heather Grove, of Portland, Oregon; and Shonna Priebe, of Hammond, Oregon. The family suggests that remembrances may be contributions to the East Fork Lutheran School, P.O. Box 489, Whiteriver, Arizona, 85941, in her memory. Fuiten, Rose & Hoyt Funeral Home in Forest Grove is entrusted with the arrangements.
