<p>George E. Coats, age 84, of Cambridge, Nebraska, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society in Arapahoe, Nebraska on Tuesday, July 7, 2020. He was born in Sacramento, California on July 12, 1935 to Gordon Washington and Viola Ruth (Coval) Coats. George attended school and graduated from Fresno, California.</p> <p>On July 27, 1979 George was united in marriage to Sylvia J. Sherman. To this marriage six children were born: George Wayne, Frank, Billy, Samantha, Claudia and Dede. The family lived ten years in Greenville, California.</p> <p>George’s career was spent in construction and woodworking. He also worked in the lumber yards of Louisiana, specifically, the Louisiana Pacific Lumbermill. George moved to the Cambridge, Nebraska area in October 2015.</p> <p>George was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Viola; three sons: George Wayne, Frank and Billy; three daughters: Samantha Hawke of Cambridge, Claudia and Dede.</p> <p>Survivors include his son-in-law, John Hawke of Cambridge; three grandchildren: Zachary, Johnette and Andrew.</p> <p>Services are pending for a later date.
