Karen Goodwin

Pleasant Grove, Utah

Karen Louise Abegg Goodwin, 58, died on July 18, 2020 at her home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Karen was the youngest daughter of Maurice L and Juanita Skaggs Abegg. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on July 18, 1962.

After graduating from Provo High School, Karen received a nursing degree from Brigham Young University. She was married to Gordon D Goodwin on December 15, 1983 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her greatest joy was her family with six children. She was comforted by her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in a Relief Society presidency, as choir director, and in other positions. She was employed as a labor and delivery nurse.

Karen was very kind and loving. She liked to travel. During college years, she spent a BYU semester abroad in London with her sister, Toni. Later, Gordon’s work took the family to Luxembourg, where son, Scott, was born — and to New Zealand, where daughter, Rachel Tiana Marie was born. She enjoyed her family’s favorite movies, unique humor, and family gatherings. Karen is the expert in "Skaggs" genealogy.

Our beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter is survived by her husband, Gordon; sons: David (Amy) Farmington; Taylor (Avril) Mesa, AZ; Scott, New Zealand; and Shawn, Rexburg, ID; daughters, Lauren (Taylor) Abbott Rexburg, ID; and Rachel, Pleasant Grove; sisters: Toni (Burke) Brown, Orem; and Lynne (Jim) Herron, Millcreek; Gordon’s parents, Dave and Lee Anne Goodwin, Fairview. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Wayne H Meyers; step-father, Craig W Wayman; and brother, Mark L Abegg.

Due to current COVID-19 conditions, a private in-person memorial service will be held for immediate family on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 7 pm. The service will be streamed online concurrently (see link below) for other interested family and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made (for funeral expenses or Shawn and Rachel’s education), or memories given to a family member. Interment at a later date will be in Manti City Cemetery, Manti, Utah. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti. Online guestbook at www.maglebymortuary.com
