Dateline: GASTONIA Mr. Jimmy Lee Lowery, 74, of Abingdon Place, 1680 S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia, passed away Friday, May 02, 2008 at his residence. He was born July 26, 1933 in Pageland, SC, a son of the late Johnny Augustus and Dollie Gussie Ferguson Lowery. Jim grew up in Charlotte and is a graduate of Charlotte Tech High School, Mars Hill College, Wake Forest University, and the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest, NC. He is survived by his wife, Hilda Craig Lowery of Gastonia; sister, Bernice Vance of Statesville; his children and their spouses, John and Malinda Lowery; Jeff Lowery, all of Gastonia; Joel and Shirley Lowery of Suwanee, GA; grandchildren, Jennifer, Johnathan, Justin, Joshua, Jordan, and Jarrett; great-granddaughter, Annagrace; step-children and their spouses, Lynne and David Little of Garner, NC; Lisa and Michael Conner; Eric and Dawn Trimnal , all of Gastonia; step-grandchildren, Whitney, Sydney, Drew, Brett, Haley, Cody, Dalton, and Jesse; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Palmer and Bill Lowery and by a sister, Martha Swanson. Jim and his family are grateful to the Abingdon Place staff for their tender loving care he received through the years, especially his last months. Thank you for being our family. You are deeply loved. Also, we appreciate the loving and touching care by Gaston Hospice, and a very special thank you to Linda Carswell from Social Services. God blessed us richly! A service to Celebrate Jims life will be held 2pm, Sunday, May 4, 2008 in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, 700 S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054 with the Reverend Tim Parker officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private for family at Gaston Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Baptist Church, 114 N.
