Carol L Baldwin

Carol Lee Baldwin, 66, of Clive died peacefully with her family at her side on Saturday, January 28, 2017. Carol, the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Kimberley) Fisher was born in Fort Dodge on March 11, 1950. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1968. Carol attended the University of Iowa for both her undergraduate (1972, English, Education) and graduate (1981, Journalism, Mass Communications) studies. She taught at Moline Public Schools from 1972 to 1978 and Wilton Community Schools from 1978 to 1984. Following a career change, Carol retired from the ITA Group in 2011 after working there for 23 years. Carol is survived by her husband of 45 years, John R. Baldwin, sons Tyler of Washington, D.C. and Todd (Jamie) of Colorado Springs, sister Marcia (Joe) Simon of Sioux City, brother Edward Jr. (Renate) of St. Louis. Carol and her family moved to West Des Moines in 1984. Carol was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church where she served on the financial council, participated in both Bible study, CRHP and a mission trip to El Salvador. Experiencing a "world view" of life through extensive travel, reading, and global conversations was important to Carol. She loved visiting her adult children and planning bi-annual family Christmas holiday trips. She participated in book and social clubs and enjoyed many close and endearing friendships. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at St. Boniface in Waukee. Funeral services will be at 11:00am on February 10th, also at St. Boniface. Memorial contributions can be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation (PKDCure.org/donate), or St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee.
