Joan Marie Draper
Joan Marie Draper passed on December 3, 2015 in Portland, Oregon at the age of 78. Joan was born August 21, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri. She leaves a legacy of kindness, charity and faith. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, colleague, leader and teacher. She volunteered in classrooms, for political organizers and with the Daughters of the American Revolution. Joan was bilingual and enjoyed traveling the world and learning about various cultures. She loved to dance the Tango and research her family lineage. She was a pioneer for women's advancement in the workplace earning a title of Vice President for Bank of America. Her Catholic faith was a large part of who she was and how she viewed the world. Joan touched many hearts and inspired people throughout her lifetime. She leaves a legacy of strength, courage and grace in her wake. Joan will be forever loved and forever missed. She is survived by her loving family: (Children) Katherine Sanford, Jackie Hiatt, Bobbi Ratley, (Son-In-Laws) Steve Sanford, Art Hiatt, Carl Macugay, Graeme McMillan, (Grandchildren) Jonathan Lange, Samantha Sanford, Dustin Sanford, Crystal Gassert, Steven Gassert, Kristina McMillan, Shelby McMillan, Shannon McMillan, (Great-Grandchild) Catherine Gassert, (Brother) Doug Draper, (Nieces) Polly Camp and Laura Onizuka). Those who wish to celebrate Joan with her family please join for any of the following: Viewing at 6:00 p.m., rosary at 7:00 p.m. at River View Cemetery on Thursday, December 10, 2015. The following day a funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. She will then be buried at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A celebration of her life will follow.
