Ted

Age 87, of Kennedy Township, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2020.

Beloved husband of 64 years to Ann (Rabick) Talkowski, loving father to Thomas (Stacey), Dr. Lynne Talkowski, Richard (Amy).  Cherished grandfather of Alex, Paige and Trevor.  Also survived by four nephews and two nieces.  Preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Ted was a 1954 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and was well known in the Sto-Ken-Rox area as the owner of Lefkowitz Drug Co. in McKees Rocks. Starting as a 14-year old employee in 1947, he enjoyed 46 years at the store before selling to Rite Aid and retiring in 1993.  Ted, and later his sons, also owned and operated Safety Sling Company in Pittsburgh from 1974 until 2019.  Active in the community, he was past president of the McKees Rocks Rotary Club, past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Treasurer of the first McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation.  Ted was also active in local politics, serving as Kennedy Twp Auditor from 1969-1971 and then as President of the Kennedy Twp Board of Commissioners from 1972-1974.  His political career actually started decades earlier, when he proudly served as president of the McKees Rocks High School Class of 1950.  Ted thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about “the Rox” and was instrumental in arranging countless Class of 1950 reunions.  He and his wife Ann were avid golfers who were blessed to travel and play with their dearest friends for many memorable years. Ted will long be remembered for his engaging personality, compassionate heart, sharp wit and keen business acumen. His generosity and devotion to family inspired all who knew him. Heartfelt thanks to the extraordinary folks at Family Hospice in Lawrenceville for their amazing kindness, care and support during this past week. You're truly special.

Friends are welcome for visitation on Sunday, July 12, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Anthony M. Musmanno Funeral Home, Inc. 941 McCoy Road McKees Rocks, (Kennedy Township) PA 15136 (412) 504 - 2000. Funeral service and interment will be private.
