BASILE~ It is with heavy hearts that the family of Raanol Rodgers Bellard announces his passing on Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the comfort of his home at the age of 79. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile. Burial will follow in the St. Augustine Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.

Raanol was a veteran of the United States Army and was a Jack-of-all-Trades. He was a musician who loved dancing, singing, and playing Cajun music. Raanol was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his wife of 19 years, Marlene Burke Bellard of Duson; daughters, Roxanne Bellard LeJeune of Eunice, Christina Bellard Soileau of Duson, and Lindsay Bellard Rainey and husband, Kenneth of Lafayette; step-children, Shane Choate of Melbourne, FL, Melissa Choate of Baton Rouge, Steven Choate and wife, Nancy of Lafayette; and Scotty Choate of Duson; brothers, Regnal Bellard and wife, Frieda of Lafayette and Christopher Cortina of Eunice; six grandchildren, Heather Boone, Chasity Bellard, Tyler Reeves, Keely, Mackenzie and Zoie Rainey; eleven step-grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; God-children, Sheila Beasley of Lafayette, Brent Fontenot and Yvette Fruge, both of Basile; as well as extended family and friends.

Carrying him to his final resting place are Regnal Bellard, Christopher Cortina, Tyler Reeves, Kenneth Rainey, Jude Daigle and Troy Bellard. Honorary pallbearer is Eric Bellard.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lindsay and Agnes Breaux Bellard; brothers, Walgene and Ludden Bellard; and a grandson, Anthony Vigee.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Basile on Saturday, December 15, 2018 from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm and again on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm on Saturday.

Memorial donations may be made to the family in lieu of flowers.
