Levinia “Vena” May Hancock It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Vena Hancock. She passed away peacefully on July 9, 2020 at the Valley View Villa. Vena was born in Stellarton on October 20, 1921. She was the daughter of Rufus and Mary Jane (Phillips) Carr. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a lifelong resident of Stellarton and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton. Vena was a graduate of the former Normal College, Truro. While in Truro, she met the love of her life, Lionel Hancock. They were married and built their home on Park Street in Stellarton. Vena taught school for over forty years, many years at G.R. Saunders. She is survived by niece’s, nephew and great nieces. She was particularly close to nephew Ed Carr and great-niece Paula Carr Sharpe, nieces Vena (Dave) Bowdridge and Brenda Carr. Also fondly remembered by nieces Cathy Jean, Ruth and great-niece Janet. Vena was known to her family as Aunt Teenie. She had a great wit and wisdom. She will be missed and remembered for her love and devotion to family. Very often Aunt Teenie could be found working in her beautiful gardens that she enjoyed so much. She was a great fan of the Blue Jays, an avid bridge player and loved the sport of curling. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her beloved husband Lionel, brother Clifford Carr, sisters Olive McBride and Earla Lindsay. Our sincere thanks to the staff of Valley View Villa for the excellent care and for the love and compassion they provided for our Aunt. There will be a family graveside service held in Brookside Cemetery with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the H.C.
