Nettie Dearborn Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Nettie Dearborn beloved wife of Ernest "Joe" Dearborn of Lintlaw, Sk. Nettie passed away on July 4, 2020 at Kelvington Hospital. A family service will be held at a later date.

   Nettie was born to Mike and Pearl Berezuik on February 11, 1944 in Wadena, SK. She was the second eldest of six children. Nettie grew up in Lintlaw, Sk attending Lintlaw and Sturgis schools. In August of 1964, Nettie married Joe (Ernest) Dearborn in Lynn Lake, MB. Together they had three children, Darcey, Desi and Devin. Nettie worked at Central Meat and Grocery for a short time and in November 1973 they moved to Leaf Rapids, MB where they both worked for Sherritt Gordon Mines.

   Nettie was a natural event planner, sharing her skill-set with various community organizations including Leaf Rapids Minor Hockey, Leaf Rapids Figure Skating Club, the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and many others. Nettie loved to host friends and neighbours for get togethers in her home and was known for her delicious cooking and baking.

   In 2002 Nettie and Joe retired to Lintlaw, SK moving into her childhood home. Nettie had a quick wit, was thoughtful and had a great memory and talent for storytelling. She was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage. Her hobbies included playing cards, staying connected with family and friends and spoiling her grandchildren.

   She will be missed dearly.

   Nettie was predeceased by her parents, Mike and Pearl Berezuik, brother-in-law Duane Wagner and daughter-in-law Sherry Dearborn. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Joe Dearborn, her children Darcey (June) Dearborn, Desi (Dean) Harcourt and Devin (Regan) Dearborn. Nettie also leaves behind her pride and joy, six grandchildren Jordyn, Dylan, Raegan, Carson, Garrett, and Riley. Also mourning her loss are her siblings Eugenia (Greg) Kennedy, Don (Jennifer) Berezuk, Anne Wagner (Lorne Anderson), Dennis (Bonnie) Berezuik, and Debbie (Ken) Mihalicz, brother and sisters-in-law, Warren (Beryl) Dearborn, Doreen (Jack) Bond and Myrna (Ron) Mengerink as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations maybe made to the Kelvington Hospital Foundation as gifts of remembrance.
