Vernon Leslie Light Obituary

Vernon Leslie “Les” Light, of Rolla, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the age of 78. Les was born in Bunker, MO, on May 5, 1942 to the late Arvil R. and Sarah Ellen “Schafer” Light. On February 29, 1984 he married Jean Etta “Sally” (Heflin) Light, who survives. In addition to his parents, Les was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Rick and Terry Light; sister, Betty Penfield. Les was a talented carpenter who helped construct and remodel many homes in the Rolla community. He was also a talented gunsmith. Among his other many interests were being an avid hunter, including mushrooms, fisherman, golfer, gardener, storyteller, LP vinyl Album collector, karaoke singer, and most of all a wonderful grandparent. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his wife, Sally Light, of Rolla; two daughters, Pam Rackley, of Rolla and Angela Jones and husband Casey, of Stockton, MO; stepchildren, Nikki Lewis and husband Terry, of Rolla, Mike MacCash and wife Brenda, of Rolla, and Steven MacCash, of Edgar Springs, MO; three brothers, Ralph Light and wife Dana, of Edgar Springs, Jimmy Light and wife Kathy, of Rolla, and Andy Light and wife Carol, of Webbers Falls, OK; three sisters, Diane Wagoner, of Edgar Springs, Judy Frolick, of Rolla, and Ann Light-Gaddy, also of Rolla; as well as one half-sister Mary Lou House, of Lake Placid, Florida; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members and his canine companion, Buddy. A gathering celebrating the life of Les Light will be held at a later date.
