The pages of this book began for Doris Jo Olivia Ramsey on December 10, 1944 in Vinita, Oklahoma. She was the oldest of two children born to Berna Joe Arrington. Doris received her formal education in the Vinita Public School system, which she completed in 1962. As a teenager, she was very popular, and the house was always full of her friends. Being the beautiful, energetic, smart, young woman, she was, it was not long before she welcomed her first born, Michael. Michael was more like her best friend than a son. Enjoying motherhood, she soon welcomed her second child, Stephanie. In 1979, Doris (Cheetah) moved to Denver, Colorado where she found her love and gift for caregiving. She spent more than two decades taking care of other people. Not only was she a professional caregiver, but she spent her entire life taking care of everyone around her. With a rapid growth of accumulated grandchildren, she found herself caring for people in and outside of her home. She was a real-life mother goose with a trail of grandchildren “heathens” following her. When Doris wasn’t working, she found joy in wrangling up her heathens to attend Sunday school, church, prayer and any other church events. As a faithful pillar of the church she made sure she spread the love of Christ. She enjoyed being with her family & friends. Everyone that knew her, loved her. Doris Jo Olivia Ramsey gained her wings on Tuesday, June 30, 2020. She leaves to cherish her memory: brother; Willie Arrington, her son; Michael Ramsey, and her daughter; Stephanie Ramsey. 19 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her mother Berna Joe Arrington. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 at the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Home in Vinita. The celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita, with Rev. Robert Ramsey officiating.
