He was born in Washington, Pa., son of the late John Evantz and Delores Fanase.

He is survived by his significant other, Donna Bickel; two daughters: Patricia M. and Christina L. McCracken; a son, Vincent M. McCracken; three brothers: John, Mark and Kevin McCracken; and two grandchildren: Ava L. and Bentley D. Knarr.

Jan was a graduate of Tyrone High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam as an Airman 1st Class.

He was a member of AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans and various American Legions in the area, where he belonged to the American Legion Riders. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle.

Friends will be received from 9:30 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at the Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona.
