Carl E. Voyles Obituary

Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and dear friend Carl Emery Voyles, 77, of Elmwood, Nebraska passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2020 surrounded by family. He was born February 6, 1943, in Nebraska City, to Emery and Leona (Pope) Voyles. Carl married Margaret Murphy on September 9, 1974. Carl Voyles loved to work in his garden, create beautiful landscaping and to have coffee with his friends. He loved tinkering, woodworking, and golfing. He was a gentle giant, lover of animals and had a fishing pole in his hand as often as possible. His greatest catch of all was when he landed Maggie, in 1974. He could be found every morning reading his Bible, in his chair, often with a cat on his lap. To know Carl, was to love him. His kids and grandkids were his pride and joy. Carl was proud to be a member of the 1961 Weeping Water State Championship basketball team. He is survived by his wife Margaret “Maggie” Voyles, children: Todd Voyles of Plattsmouth, NE, Lance (Janet) Voyles of Valencia, CA, Melinda (Jay) Utterback of Lincoln, NE, James (Jody) Voyles of Humble, TX, Wendy (Julie) Voyles of Springfield, MO, Carrie (Jerry) Finchum of Lee’s Summit, MO, Matthew (Michelle) Rachau of Splendora, TX.
