Doris Margaret Eleanor Beckerjeck
October 4, 1926 - June 6, 2020 With great sadness the family of Doris Margaret Eleanor Beckerjeck said goodbye to a dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Doris passed peacefully in Cranbrook, B.C., surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 93. Mom was born in Claresholm, Alberta on October 4, 1926 and was the cherished daughter of Carrie Magdalene Elizabeth and William Foulkes Hughes. Claresholm is where she met the love of her life and soon to be husband James “Jack” Beckerjeck. Dad said they first started holding hands in 1942 and never stopped until mom’s final breath. Mom passed one day away, from celebrating their 76th wedding anniversary. Mom and Dad spent their early years in Calgary, Alberta working and raising a family of 5 children. In 1967 they moved to Cranbrook where they owned and operated Jack’s Husky Travel Centre and the Robo Car Wash until 1975. Soon after that, as a team they worked and managed the Cranbrook Curling Club for many successful years. During retirement they loved to spend quality time with their friends traveling western Canada in their motor home. Mom loved to cook. She loved to garden and work on her oil paintings. She loved to sew, camp and travel. She loved her pets...so many pets. Christmas was her favourite time of year when she could be together with her family and friends. Mom was a kind and loving person with a witty sense of humour. She was admired by so many. Doris will be deeply missed by her husband Jack, daughter Diane Resvick, son Gordon (Marg), daughter Kathy Biever (Jeffrey Poole) 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her brother Bill Hughes, daughter Lynne Phillips, daughter June Dennis, son-in-law Denny Dennis and son-in-law Dennis Resvick. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and management at the F.W Green Home for our mother’s care and for making our time during mom’s last days as normal as possible in these unprecedented times.
