OBITUARY

The beloved Lisa Carol (LaMarr) Hampton was born on April 15, 1965 in Chicago, IL. This vibrant woman was the youngest of five daughters. While in high school, she began her community activism work by volunteering for the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, an organization dedicated to fighting social injustices, under the leadership of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr. After graduating from Evanston Township High School, Lisa took a leap of faith and relocated to her new home in the city of San Diego, CA.

Lisa was a motivated and intelligent woman who dedicated herself to being a life-long learner. She attended San Diego City College, where she obtained three Associate degrees in Early Childhood Education, and attended San Diego State University where she majored in Psychology. She spent her career positively affecting the lives of children. She spent 15 years of her career at Neighborhood House Association, where she began as a Head Start Teacher and ultimately advanced to being a Center Director. After leaving Neighborhood House Association, Lisa became a Life Coach, which reignited her passion for community activism, specifically within the LGBTQ+ population. Lisa received many accolades for her activism; the most notable award received from Mayor Kevin Faulkner for her outstanding volunteer achievements.
