Dallard O. Woodruff

Dallard O. “Woody” Woodruff, 92, of Lowell, died Saturday morning, June 13, 2020. A son of the late Abner and Sylvia Robinson Woodruff, he was born April 16, 1928 in Marietta, OH. Following graduation from Waterford High School in 1946, Woody served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1990, having worked in operations for Ohio Power and A.E.P. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Church and American Legion Post 750. He also was a past member of the L-A Volunteer Fire Department. Woody was well known for his mechanical and welding abilities. He and his wife enjoyed showing their restored vintage automobiles. Surviving are his five daughters, Karen (Lee) Weisend, of Devola, Vickie (John) Atkinson, of Beverly, Jayne (Mike) Dye, of Devola, Kathi (Neil) Hinton, of Marietta, and Brenda (Ed) Harra, of Beverly; eight grandchildren, Alicia (Matt) Craig, Matthew (Lori) Weisend, Grace (Derrick) Nelson, Alan (Ashley) Atkinson, Amanda (Josh) Hill, Nathan Linger, Jamie Burchett and Kaylee (Andy) Weihl; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Woody was married to Anna Mae Robinson on Dec. 4, 1948. She preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 2012. His brothers Harold and Russell also are deceased. Woody’s family will greet friends at the Lowell Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, June 19, 2020 at the funeral home, with Pastor Melody Hoskinson officiating. Burial will be in Beverly Cemetery, with Full Military Honors observed. Please be advised that social distancing will be observed and it is suggested that attendees please wear a mask. Friends are asked not to linger following greeting of the family on Thursday. The Woodruff family would like to acknowledge Appletree Assisted Living for their excellent care. Also, it is suggested that memorial contributions in Woody’s memory be directed to Amedisys Home Health and Hospice, American Legion Post 750 or L-A Fire & Rescue - envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
