Spencer Hester Obituary

Spencer Hester, 89, of Bladenboro, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents: David Hilton and Bertha Hester; daughter, Vickie Hester Hammond; three brothers: Stanley, Fulton and AJ Hester. Spencer leaves behind his wife Evelyn S. Hester of the home; son, Rev. Dale Hester (Donna) of Bladenboro; two daughters: Teresa Hester of the home, Tina H. Forrester (Victor) of Bladenboro; brother, Billy Hester of Clarkton; eleven grandchildren: JR Hammond, Joshua Hammond, Jessica Fetsch, Jonathan Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Andrew Phillips, Chrissy Godwin, Hannah Forrester, Abigail Forrester, Micah Forrester, Lucas Forrester, nine great-grandchildren, and a special family friend, Fiona Adams.

Spencer worked at the Bladenboro cotton mill for over 50 years as a floor manager. He was respected and loved by all of his employees. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, on the Board of Trustees, as secretary of Bladen Lakes Sunday School and was a Gideon for many years. Spencer worked part time for Lewis Funeral Home, Biggs Funeral Home and Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Spencer was a hardworker, wonderful husband and father who loved the Lord and loved to sing. He enjoyed gospel music so much he became a DJ at a gospel radio station in St. Pauls. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A private funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 14th with Rev. Bobby Smith and Pastor Cory Nance officiating service.
