Beverly B. Rieger

Beverly B. Rieger, age 84, a lifelong resident of Strasburg, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born July 22, 1931, in Beach City, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edwin Bixler and Helen (Geckler) Bixler Savage. Beverly graduated in 1949 from Strasburg-Franklin High School where she was a cheerleader. She reared three children before starting her working career first at Garver Brothers Store and then Stockert Drilling, both of Strasburg. She then was employed by W.L. Jenkins Company in Canton, from which she retired. Always one to keep busy, Beverly volunteered at Mercy Medical Center for fifteen years at the front desk she also served communion to patients. She cheerfully greeted each visitor and was well-known for her holiday costumes and matching hats. Beverly was a member of the former St. Aloysius Church, Strasburg, where she served as president of the Women's Association, and was a present member of St. Joseph Church, Dover. Additionally, she belonged to the American Women's Business Association. She very much enjoyed family parties and travel with her companion of forty-two years, Frank Warth. She loved to dance and did so into her eighties. Beverly also liked working in her yard, growing flowers and keeping a well-manicured lawn. A loving mother and "Nana," she is survived by her three children, Lynn Fisher (Glen), Michael Rieger (Bonnie) and Kim Draime; her five grandchildren, Matthew and Joshua (Stacy) Bitikofer, Erika Drummond (Mark), Patrick (Sarah) and Julie Draime; and her ten great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Bixler, and her companion Frank in April of this year. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, December 13, 2 5 p.m.; a Christian wake service will be held Sunday at 4:45 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, December 14, at 10:30 in St. Joseph Church with Fr. Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Burial will be in St. Aloysius Cemetery, Strasburg. Following the committal, there will be a luncheon in St. John United Church of Christ, Strasburg. The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Community Hospice, Kimberly, and all those who cared for Beverly and sent her good wishes THANK YOU! Beverly is a very beloved lady that shared her heart & mind with all. Always making people feel warm & welcome. It has been an honor to be befriended by her. I & so many others will miss her terribly. Love you Bev! My heartfelt sympathy to all her family.
