Eugene Earl Owens, 78, of Virginia Beach, VA, passed away on June 6, 2020. Born in Michigan, Eugene loved to play Bridge and achieved the high-ranking title of ACBL-Life Master in Duplicate Bridge. He retired in the 1990’s as the Finance Director for the City of Flint. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Eugene loved spending time with his family. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Owens; and sisters, Elaine Kelley and Marlene Murdock. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Christine Owens; three daughters, Dana Avery (Steven), Kelly Lutz (Douglas), and Colette Burandt; grandchildren, Heather Fry, Christopher Avery, Christine Lutz, Douglas “Lee” Lutz, Jr, Dan Lutz, Jessica Lutz, and Toni Burandt; great-grandson, Branden Fry; and a brother, Duane Getzmeyer (Shirley).
