Jeffrey G. Hartman went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 6, 2020 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, of 55 years, Jackie and their three children; Kristin, Jana and Todd and his brother Lee. He had seven grandchildren and was anticipating the arrival of his first great grandchild in the months ahead. Jeff was born and raised in Michigan and attended the University of Wyoming where he played football for four years and earned a bachelor’s degree in education followed by a master’s degree from Michigan State University. Jeff’s life continued to be driven by his love of football and education of not only himself, but others. His forty three years of a teaching and coaching career guided him and his family throughout the states of Michigan and Wyoming. He took advantage of all the wonders that God graced the earth with, traveling across the country from Alaska to Wyoming and the rivers of Michigan for fishing trips and the pleasures of everything adventurous.Jeff will always be remembered as an avid, colorful storyteller, great friend, someone who loved the wild west, enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture, fishing with friends and family and a man of many interests. Jeff was true to himself and his character regardless of his surroundings or his company. Jeff was the first to offer a helping hand to anybody in need. He thoroughly loved his grandchildren and boasting of their successes. He could be found front and center or on the playing field sharing his words of wisdom. Services will be held at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 2750 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids, on Friday, June 12, 2020. An hour visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM will precede the Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM.  Due to Covid-19 there will be limited seating available. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or Spectrum Hospice and Palliative Care.
