Jack Ashley
<p>Doctor "Doc" Gale Jackson Ashley, age 93 of North Myrtle Beach, SC., formerly of Alleghany County, NC and The Villages, FL., passed away peacefully at his residence on June 3rd, 2020 </p> <p>Jack was born August 12th, 1926 in Matewan, West Virginia to the late Roy and Mary Anna Osborne Ashley. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory and Henry and then went on to earn his Doctorate degree from UNC Chapel Hill. </p> <p>He is survived by his wife Nancy Blevins Ashley of the home; four sons: Steve Ashley and wife Janet of Wake Forest, Doug Ashley of Fuquay-Varina, Chris Ashley and wife Karen of Laurel Springs, David Ashley and wife Kristi of Pleasant Garden; two daughters: Sandy Ashley of Sparta, Candy Smith and husband Stan of Sparta; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Frances Barfield of Charleston, SC, Linda Oliver of Winston-Salem.</p> <p>A Celebration of "Doc" Ashley's life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, June 27th, 2020 at Cornerstone Christian Fellowship in Sparta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. </p> <p>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 7027 Albert Pick Road, Suite 104, Greensboro, NC 27409.</p> <p>Thomas Family Funeral Service is honored to be serving the Ashley family.
