Mary Myrtle Barrett Powell, age 90, passed away on Monday June 1, 2020 at her residence in Berea, Ky. Mrs. Powell was born January 25, 1930 in Madison County, Ky to the late James and Lily Powell Barrett. Mrs. Powell loved to cook for her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed singing and raising flower and vegetable gardens. Mrs. Powell was of the Baptist faith and member of Grace Baptist Church. Other than her parents Mrs. Powell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Tommy” Powell, one son, Earl Powell, two daughters, Diane Powell Embree, Debbie Powell Abney, seven siblings Helen Clark, Lucy Davidson, Bea Lewis, David Barrett, Reo Barrett, Junior Barrett, Ray Barrett, one daughter-in-law Faye Powell, two grandsons, Jimmy Vaughn, Jr. and Robbie Todd. Mrs. Powell is survived by two sons, Rev. Gerald Powell of Berea, KY, Jake Powell and his wife Melody of Berea, Ky, grandchildren, Candace Todd, Mandie Gay and her husband Justin, Heather Story and her husband Ronnie, Mitchell Powell, Jerrod Abney, Alicia Abney, Monica Powell, Chris Powell and his wife Melissa, Cody Powell, Cameron Vaughn and his wife Nikki, and sister-in-law Peggy Barrett. 16 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday June 5, 2020 at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Powell officiating. There will also be a live stream of the service on our website www.davisandpowellfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8PM Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Cameron Vaughn, Jerrod Abney, Chris Powell, Ethan Richmond, Drew Richmond, and Mitch Barrett. Honorary Pallbearers are Chester Azbill, Ronnie Azbill, Toby Honaker, Steve Dooley, Robbie Lanham, and members of Grace Baptist Church.
