Douglas Mullins, 76, of Lapeer, died Monday, June 1, 2020. Douglas was born December 7, 1943 in Pikeville, Kentucky to Noble and Bertha Mae (Sowards) Mullins. He graduated from McDowell High School (McDowell, Kentucky), class of 1962. He married Kathleen Vardakis on January 13, 1977 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Doug worked for Ford Motor Company for 23 1/3 years, retiring in 1986. His true calling was his faith – Doug was the pastor at House of David Baptist Church in Imlay City for many years. Doug enjoyed everything to do with church. Doug enjoyed fishing in his free time. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Mullins; his children: Ricky (Michelle) Mullins of Ocala, Florida, Deborah (Richard) Lupu of Monroe, Ronnie Mullins of Pontiac and Christina Castle of Lapeer; brother, Rondall (Marcia) Mullins of Arlington, Texas. Douglas is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Dustin Mullins; two brothers: Donald and Glenn Mullins; sister, Wilma Booth and his aforementioned parents. Visitation will be held from 12PM – 8PM Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Gospel Light Baptist Church, 3600 South Lapeer Road, Metamora, Michigan 48455. Doug’s funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the church, Pastor Donald Jenkins officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Bethany Mennonite Cemetery in Dryden, Michigan. Memorial contribution may be made to McLaren Hospice, 1515 Cal Drive, Davison, Michigan 48423.
