Archie M. Temple, age 86, a lifelong resident of Faribault, MN passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Mill City Senior Living in Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault with Pastor Janet White from First English Lutheran Church officiating.  Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.  The service will also be live streamed through a link found on Archie’s obituary page at www.ParkerKohlFuneralHome.com.  If you are unable to attend the service but would like to join the procession to the cemetery, please be at the funeral home by 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home on Thursday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.

Archie Merlin, the son of Ralph and Luella (Squire) Temple, was born on March 4, 1934 in Faribault, MN.  He attended Faribault High School and graduated with the class of 1952.  Following high school Archie served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.  On April 20, 1956 he was united in marriage to Beverly Ann Shattuck at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Lanesboro, MN.  Archie worked with his father, Ralph, at Temple Electric Motors and purchased the business in 1961.  He was an innovative person, building a solar panel and his own home sauna over 40 years ago.  He was also very civic minded and repaired the civil defense siren for the northwest part of Faribault and was a mobile storm watcher along with Bev.  For many years he was a member of the Faribault HAM Radio Club and a member of the Faribault Barber Shop Chorus.  He loved to sing and also sang in the choir at First English Lutheran Church along with being an active member in many capacities including playing on the church softball team and serving on the church council.  He was an avid and accomplished fisherman who loved being out on the water.

He is survived by his wife Beverly Temple of Faribault, by four children, Susan Temple of Northfield, MN, Terri (Dale) Freeman of Newnan, GA, Annmarie (Bruce) Eklund of Sharpsburg, GA and David (Pam) Temple of Owatonna, MN; by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; by his brother Steve (Audrey) Temple of Faribault and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia Bengtson and Doris Temple.
