It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of 88 year old Edward W Schwab on May 28, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his wife of 62 years, Avra Schwab, and his beloved children. He will be greatly missed by his children Andrew Schwab (Aliza Bricklin), Hilary Schwab, Randi Marshall (Scott Marshall) and wonderful grandchildren Jacob Schwab, Rachel Schwab, Alison Shapiro, Melanie Shapiro, Danielle Horridge, Zachary Horridge, and Shauna Marshall. Ed grew up in Jamaica, New York and graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and Lehigh University. He then joined the navy and after, Officer Candidate School, was sent to Kwajalein, Marshall Islands during the Korean War. He then was in charge of running the exchange at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York. After the navy, Ed worked for many years in the family decorating business on Long Island. He then decided to change his life and in 1978, he and his wife bought a parcel of land in Stanardsville, VA and proceeded to start a vineyard and winery. Ed won many medals under the Autumn Hill label over the 40 years he spent in this industry. They decided to retire to Naples, Fl after spending many winters living there.
