Betty L. Jackson Obituary

Betty Lou (Scott) Jackson, 87, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020 at her home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Betty was born November 13, 1932 to the late Andrew and Maude (Dowd) Scott in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.  She spent her childhood in Qulin, MO, where she excelled at sports and graduated. The highlight of her summers was attending the Annual Qulin Homecoming.

Betty retired from the State of Missouri working for the Missouri Division of Employment Security.  She was the first female manager for the MDES when they opened an office in Dexter, MO.  After retiring, she purchased and operated the local Merle Norman cosmetic shop. She was an active member of  First Christian Church in Poplar Bluff, Missouri for many years. Betty was an avid reader and enjoyed attending bible study classes. She loved her dogs and was disappointed that she could not cheer for her beloved St. Louis Cardinals baseball team this spring.

Betty is survived by two sons, Greg Jackson of Jackson, Tennessee and Doug (Angie) Jackson of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and one granddaughter, Leah Faith Jackson, also of Poplar Bluff.

She is also preceded in death by her husband Rex A Magee; two brothers, Joe Scott and Bob Scott; and two sisters, Alma Guard and Lillian McGhee.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Cotrell Funeral Service Chapel. A graveside service will follow beginning at 2:30 pm at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery, with Reverend Frank Chlaslak officiating.
