Joshua Peterkin, son of the late Deacon Simid Peterkin and Gracie Day Peterkin, was born in Raeford, NC on May 30, 1949.  Joshua transitioned from this life on May 24, 2020 at Moses H. Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC. 

He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Tondra Saunders of Gastonia, NC; Chanda Fay Gore (Cletis) of Holly Springs, NC; Joshua Lamont Peterkin of Durham, NC; and Tony Sherard Peterkin (Verlinda) of Durham, NC. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.  His brother Simid Peterkin, Jr., sister Odessa Copeland, brother Lander Peterkin, Sr., and brother David Peterkin all preceded him in death.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Doby Funeral Home.  In correspondence to COVID-19 standards and regulations, a private funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM at Leach Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
