Marwin Lamon Gash, 52, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN passed away on Monday morning, May 25, 2020 in a local hospital. He was born in Cleveland, TN on March 17, 1968 a son of the late Cynthia Ann Gash and Lamon Wilson. He attended St. James Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Marwin graduated from Cleveland High School in 1986. While at Cleveland High he played for the Blue Raider football team as the running back and many made the comment “man he was good”. Marwin not only played football but was an excellent athlete and excelled in track and basketball as well. In his spare time, Marwin loved music and enjoyed dancing, camping, working out (he called it “his playground”) and being out on the water. Marwin was not known for his cooking abilities one family member even accused him of “burning water”. However, he loved his hot dogs and oatmeal crème pies. He will be remembered forever for his love and pride he had for his children and granddaughter. Everyone that had the opportunity to meet Marwin was truly blessed to make his acquaintance. Marwin leaves behind to cherish his memory one daughter Aaliyah Gash aka “Peek-a-boo” of Dalton, GA, one son Blake Gash (Edna Rodriguez) of Chattanooga, TN, one granddaughter he called his “Lil Skittle” Leila Gash, two brothers Petero Gash (Jillian) and Omar Gash both of Cleveland, TN, the mother of his children Debbie Gash of Dalton, GA, “his lady” Kristi Cawood, cousins Angie Burke and Darius Gash, Angie’s daughter Keya, two uncles Harry Gash and Terry Gash, numerous other extend family and a host of former teammates and special dear friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A service celebrating his life will begin at 4:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Sarah Westfield officiating. The service will be livestreamed on Companion Funeral facebook page. The interment follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with friends and classmates serving as pallbearers. The funeral procession leading to Fort Hill will pass thru the Blue Raider parking in Memory of Marwin and many games he led them to victory.
