Nicole "Nikki" Faux

***For the safety of those entering Dunn’s Funeral Home, visitation attendees will be asked to wait as small family units, at safely distanced, designated areas before greeting the family. After seeing the family, guests will need to promptly exit the building in order for the next small group to enter. Wait times may be extended. Masks are preferred.*** Nicole Faux passed away peacefully in her home in Des Moines, Iowa on Tuesday, May 26, 2020. A Safely Accessed Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 1 at Iles Dunn’s Chapel. Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 2 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Nikki was born on April 18, 1987 to Meda and Tom. She spent part of her childhood in Missouri with her beloved grandparents, Thomas and Janean Faux. She came back to Des Moines where she attended Brody Middle School and Lincoln High School and made lifelong friends. Nikki met the love of her life, Derrick Nestvedt, at a Halloween party and a few years later the light of their lives, Mackenah Marie, was born on May 14, 2013. Nikki may have been robbed of opportunities in motherhood, but that didn’t stop her from showering Mackenah with enough love to carry with her for the rest of her life. If you had the pleasure of befriending Nikki you had a friend for life. She had so many friends made at school, various jobs, and being the social butterfly she was. She spent several years working at Baratta’s Restaurant where her friends there became family. It was during her tenure there that she was involved in a careless automobile accident that left Nikki a quadriplegic. This brought unimaginable adversities that Nikki faced head on, all with Derrick and Mackenah by her side. Everything that life threw at Nikki never tarnished her heart of gold. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body and never gave up on kindness. Aside from being a mother some other things Nikki found joy in were traveling with her family, girls nights, country and hip hop music, concerts, hot sauce, scary movies, and the ID channel. Nikki was preceded in death by her mother, Meda Woodyard and grandmother, Barbera Avis. She is survived by her fiancé, Derrick Nestvedt and daughter, Mackenah Nestvedt; father, Tom Faux; step-father, Richard Woodyard, Sr.; sister, Alexus; brothers, Konnor and Ricky; sister-in-law, Nicole; niece, Leah; and nephew, Jaydan; and grandparents, Tom, Janean, and Don. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Derrick Nestvedt for the support of the family and directed to the Iles Dunn's Chapel office.
