William George Rich, Jr. Obituary

William George Rich, Jr., age 83, peacefully passed away with his loving family by his side on Monday, May 25, 2020 at his residence. He was born October 7, 1936 in Cicero, IL, the son of William George and Mary Anna nee Daniel Rich, Sr. William proudly served his country in the Illinois National Guard. Prior to his retirement in 1987, William worked as a customer engineer with IBM. He was a kind and gentle soul, and everyone who met him soon called him a friend. He had an infectious smile and a sly sense of humor. He always had a project to work on around the house, either fixing or building something. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying model airplanes, held a private pilot’s license and loved all types of aircraft. He was particular when it came to his food; as he preferred “shoe leather” doneness and if not crunchy enough to definitely add salt! Above all, he loved his family, God, Country and believed in paying it forward. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Harriet Rose Rich. He was an amazing father to his daughters Jennifer Ann Balanoff and Rosemary Margaret (Kenneth) Krolak and a Grandpa to Matthew and Brenna Krolak. Loving brother to sister Irene Przeklasa. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Henry Rich. Private services will be held. Memorials may be made to American Parkinson’s Disease Association, Midwest Chapter, 1800 North Main Street, #215, Wheaton, Illinois 60187. A Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
