Gary “Joe” McCleary, age 69 HANAHAN, SC - Gary “Joe” McCleary of Hanahan, SC, formally of Kirkland, IL, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife of 47 years on May 22, 2020. Born Feb 26, 1951, to Oland and Gladys (Mohney) McCleary. Joe was a man full of love, kindness, and endless generosity. Those who knew Joe, knew he was a man of many talents. Friends and family that came to visit would always leave full of memories, laughter, and great food, like his world renowned chicken and dumplings. He loved and cherished spending time with his family, watching the Golden State Warriors, and the Chicago Cubs. Survived by his wife Linda, children, Melissa “Missy” (Dan) Ayres, Mike (Justine) Luepkes, Josh (Carmen) McCleary, Meggan (Bryan) Grubb, sister Janet McCleary and brother Richard (Jean) McCleary. Grandchildren Summer (Mike) Albietz, Alex Lakin, Payton (Jenna) Luepkes, Jordan (Jordan) Luepkes, Robert (Stefanie) Quimby, Shane Quimby, Jace (Laura) Quimby, and Dakotah Quimby, Casey McCleary and Joey Grubb, along with many great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to thank Roper St. Francis Hospice for their compassionate care. There will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, May 27, from 12pm - 8pm at the McCleary residence.
