Harriet Jean Hancock

Harriet Jean Hancock, 56, of Faribault, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23 following a valiant second fight against breast cancer. Harriet was at home surrounded by her loved ones. At this time, her memorial service will be postponed to a later date. A small service will be held privately with her immediate family. Harriet was born in Minneapolis on June 7, 1963. She graduated from Northfield High School and continued her education at Brigham Young University. Harriet was married to Jay Hancock on November 2, 1984; they were married 35 years. They moved to Faribault, MN where they raised 4 children. Harriet worked as a business analyst for Rust Consulting for over 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, and taking pictures of her family. Harriet’s children were the joy of her life, she could always be heard cheering at sporting events or seen taking pictures and video at orchestra concerts. She was an active member of the Faribault, MN congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many volunteer roles. Harriet was preceded in death by her father, Russell Hamm, and is survived by Jay Hancock (husband), John Hancock (son, married to Paige Hancock), Emily Gregersen (daughter, married to Logan Gregersen), Madelyn Hancock (daughter), Justin Hancock (son), Violet Gregersen (granddaughter of Emily and Logan), Annette DeSpain (mother), Ken Hamm (brother), and in the countless hearts that she touched throughout her life. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please think of Harriet as you serve a neighbor, or make a donation to the charity of your choice.
