Funeral services for Bob Sherman, 72, will be held 11 A.M., Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Bro. Bo Gunnels will officiate the service, and interment will follow in the Sherman Cemetery, east of Centerville. The Sherman family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home. Bob Sherman, the son of A.C. “Buck” & Mary Virginia (Tubbs) Sherman, was born October 28, 1947, in Madisonville, Texas. He was a Leon County resident all of his life and worked over thirty years for Continental Baking Company driving a bread delivery truck. Bob held a great knowledge of “war history” and was an avid small engine airplane pilot. He owned a crop duster and enjoyed flying it when he had the opportunity. Bob deeply loved his children and grandchildren and they loved him back just as deep, along with his many close friends. He passed away May 23, 2020, at his home following a long battle with cancer. Bob was preceded in death by both of his parents and grandson, Steven. Surviving family members include long time love and friend, Peggy Wilkins of Dayton; brother, Tommy (Judy) Sherman of Centerville; children, Karen (Eddie) Kendrick of Crockett, Bobby Sherman of Centerville and Audra Sherman of Centerville; their mother, Beverly (Craig) Manning of Centerville; grandchildren, Heather Newsome (Michael Wilson) of Katy, Lauren (Ryan) Robertson of Palestine; Erin Kendrick of Crockett; Josh Carrigan of Centerville, Jeremy (Michaela) of Bryan and Chelsea (Robert) Stanford of Centerville and great-grandchildren, Hudson, Canon, Scarlett, Jameson, Paislee, Steven, Jauslyn, Everett, Tyler and Audrey. Bob is also survived by special family friends, Amy (Pete) Smith of Grand Rapids, WI, Misty (Robert) Jackson of Tarkington Prairie, Melissa Wilkins (Fernando Lugo) of Midland, Megan (Cole) Hardy of Atascocita and Krista (Dusty) Walker of Dayton, as well as numerous other extended family and friends. Pallbearers: Josh Carrigan, Jeremy Carrigan, Robert Stanford, James Dunn, Brian Stubblefield, Derek Comer Honorary Pallbearers: Sam Thornton, James O. Hill, Jim Hill, Robert Padgett, Bobby Brown, Lewis Hoyt, Noel Ray Goolsby Arrangements are under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, Centerville, Texas.
