James "Big Jim" Allen Holston

<p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong> A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Oasis Christian Fellowship in Shoshone.</strong></p> <p>https://www.facebook.com/groups/2659147067671991/?ref=share</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; James Allen Holston &ldquo;Big Jim&rdquo;, 66, of Shoshone, Idaho went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday March 23, 2020.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim was born to Robert Eugene Holston and Margie Ann Johnson on August 2, 1953 in Neosho Missouri. &nbsp;Jim was an only child. Jim graduated from Minico High school in 1971.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; While in high school Jim participated in the Civil Air Patrol. And that is where his love for the radios came from. &nbsp;He held various jobs in the Magic Valley and in Washington State. Some of the places that he worked for were Stars Ferry Building Supply, A&amp;B Irrigation, he drove cross country with his Dad, worked at Cactus Pete&rsquo;s in Security, and worked security in Washington. &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; During Jim&rsquo;s early life, his best friend Ray McCray was like a brother that he never had, and they had many adventures together. And up until his passing they would talk about life, death, and everything in between. &nbsp;&nbsp;Jim enjoyed being outside. &nbsp;He loved to camp and fish with his family and friends. &nbsp;He enjoyed going to the Seattle Mariners Games. His favorite spots to go were the Head Waters of the Salmon and camp. Also, he enjoyed going to Lake Cleveland and up to the top of Mount Harrison. He loved his CB&rsquo;s and Talking to the truckers and listening to scanners. &nbsp;Jim enjoyed working the Lincoln County Fair Each year. His joke was always &ldquo;I take people&rsquo;s money, but I don&rsquo;t get any!&rdquo; He really looked forward to this each year. He loved to help people.&nbsp; He enjoyed having yard sales and going to flee markets outside of Idaho with his good friends. He enjoyed finding treasures that everyone else thought was &ldquo;JUNK&rdquo;. &nbsp;He enjoyed being outside and looking up at the sky. &nbsp;A highlight was watching the eclipse with his kids and looking to the nighttime sky. &nbsp;He was always taking sunrise and sunset pictures.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; One of his biggest accomplishments was becoming an EMT. &nbsp;He spent many hours going the back road from Rupert to Shoshone to classes. &nbsp;He would still go even with the snowy roads. &nbsp;He was very proud to obtain his certificate. &nbsp;He enjoyed helping people and he was very prepared to assist. &nbsp;He accomplished his certificate and worked ambulance in Rupert, Shoshone, Twin Falls and Jackpot NV.&nbsp; He also enjoyed being a photographer for Shoshone Fire and police on accident scene. &nbsp;His EMT training lead to his job at Loss Prevention in Washington State. &nbsp;He received numerous certificates for classes that he attended. &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim met Kathy Spevak. &nbsp;To this marriage was one son - Jeremiah James Holston. He was the biggest baby born ever at the Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. And boy was Jim proud of that! &nbsp;Later they divorced. Jeremiah had two children - Kayleigh and Adam. &nbsp;Jim enjoyed spending time with them while he was up in Washington.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Then in 1979 he married then Cathy Dutton. To this marriage there came two children. A daughter his pride and joy - Heather Marie and another son - Matthew James. And many moves along the way, sixteen to be exact. &nbsp;And they were divorce later. However, they continued to stay good friends, Jim would call to check on the kids and make sure everyone was ok. They could talk for hours.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In 2008 he met Dian Gaches who became his companion for the last twelve years. They had made many memories while they were living in Shoshone. &nbsp;He enjoyed going camping and fishing along with some traveling with Dian. He also enjoyed Dians&rsquo; two daughters and their families.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim is survived by: his daughter - Heather Holston; son - Matthew Holston, both of Twin Falls, Idaho; granddaughter - Kayleigh Holston; grandson - Adam Holston, both of Washington State; his companion - Dian Gaches of Shoshone, Idaho; Aunt - Karen Holston of Pocatello Idaho and many cousins. &nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Proceeded in death by father - Robert Holston; mother - Margie Johnson Holston; son - Jeremiah James Holston; both Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Uncle - Vernon Holston as well as many Aunts and Uncles and cousins.</p> <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Memorial Contributions made to Oasis Christian Fellowship 310 E. 6th ST Shoshone ID 83352, Lincoln County EMS 111 W.      James Allen Holston “Big Jim”, 66, of Shoshone, Idaho went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday March 23, 2020.
