John McCollough

Mr. John Allen McCollough was born January 7, 1944 in Salisbury, NC to the late WB McCollough and the late Elsie Slade McCollough. On Friday, May 22, 2020 at 10:52am he took his last breath and went on to his heavenly home. He was educated in the public schools of Rowan County and was a 1962 graduate of Dunbar High School, East Spencer, NC. He graduated from Livingstone College in 1967 with a B.A. degree in Sociology. John worked for Norandal, USA, Salisbury, NC for 38 years. He was a life long resident of East Spencer, NC. He previously served on the Board of Alderman for the town. John grew up as a member of the family church, Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Spencer, NC. He later joined Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church, Salisbury, NC. At Moore's John served on the Trustee Board, Men's Booster Club, Men's Choir, and was previously the Preacher's Steward. In addition to his parents John is preceded in death by all of his siblings: Eugene McCullough, Willie James "Toot" McCollough and Julia Ann McCollough Wilson. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 45 years Edna McGorda McCollough. Sons George D. Stout III (Sandra), Kannapolis, NC; Dwayne A. McCollough, Charlotte, NC; Dr. Brian A. McCollough (Giovonna), Concord, NC; daughters Lisa Stout Steele (Dennis Scott), Salisbury, NC and Jamila A. Gladden, Charlotte, NC. Devoted nephew Kevin E. McCullough (Delphine); Grandchildren Paris McCollough, Durham, NC; Latifah McCollough Silvera (Devon), Chantilly, VA; his "favorite person" Dominique Steele, Salisbury, NC; Jalisa Gladden and Jameson Gladden, Charlotte, NC; Great-granddaughters Skylar Rose Silvera and Cali Anne Marie Silvera, Chantilly, VA. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
