Dominic PhD Simone

Dominic Simone, PhD, 88, of Lincroft, passed away Saturday, January 28. Dr. Simone was born in Gravina di Puglia, Italy. He attended the University of Bologna where he received his PhD in Organic Chemistry. He immigrated to the United States in 1955. Dominic worked as a research chemist for NL Industries, Hightstown and CasChem, Bayonne. During his 35-year career, Dr. Simone received many U.S. patents for his novel developments in industrial coatings and polymers. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Vacca); his sons Joseph and his wife Alicia, Ridgewood, Alfonse and his wife Laura, Cranford, Dr. Philip Simone and his wife Stacey, Old Bridge; his daughter Lucretia Israel and her husband David, Dix Hills, NY; his sister Rosemarie Ubriaco, Yonkers, NY and 11 grandchildren Brandon, Matthew, Madeline, Michael, Andrew, Peter, Amanda, Blake, Anna, William and Daniel. Besides his love of family, Dominic enjoyed gardening, painting, opera music, travelling, and playing the stock market. A gracious host, he would offer guests one of his famous Manhattans or Martinis when they arrived at his home. He would lovingly work for hours making homemade pasta for frequent family gatherings. Visitation Tuesday, January 31 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm & 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday February 1 at 10:15 am at St. Leo the Great Church, Lincroft. Burial St. Gabriel’s Cemetery, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to The Holy Family Home & Shelter, Inc. P.O. Box 884 Willimantic, CT 06226-0084.
