Brent Ham
<p>Brent Ham, 59, Casselton, ND passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.</p> <p>Brent Lay Ham was born Jan. 23, 1960 in Jamestown, ND to Leland and Marlene (Sieg) Ham. He grew up in Chaffee, ND and graduated from high school there. He continued his schooling at Valley City State College where he played football and baseball. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business and physical education. While at Valley City, he met Charlene Fetting. They were married in 1981 at St. Peter Lutheran Church near Leonard. They raised four children. He taught and coach at Leonard Public School for 10 years. The family moved to Casselton in 1993 and he began teaching and coaching for the West Fargo Public Schools until retiring.</p> <p>His family and friends were of utmost importance to him. He especially cherished his time being “papa” to his grandkids. He played amateur baseball with the Enderlin Indies. Brent served on the Casselton Parks and Rec Board for many years and enjoyed coaching many youth activities. He also had a passion for fishing, hunting, golfing, gardening, cooking and construction projects, especially helping others with their projects.</p> <p>He is survived by four children, Sheena (Adam) Cole of Beulah, ND, Tessa (Tyson) Nelson of West Fargo, Keshia Ham of West Fargo and Jalen (Casey) Ham of Fargo; five grandchildren, Avery, Eleanor and Anson Cole and Lincoln and Veda Ham; his parents, Leland and Marlene Ham of Steele, ND; three siblings, Loy (Pam) Ham of Leonard, ND, Todd (Carrie) Ham of Bagley, MN and Marlee (Larry) Robertson of Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.</p> <p>Brent was preceded in death by his grandparents, Archibald and Mary Ham, Leopold and Ida Sieg.</p> <p><strong>Visitation</strong>: Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Martin’s Lutheran Church, Casselton, ND.</p> <p><strong>Funeral</strong>: Wednesday, Jan. 22 at 11 AM at Martin’s Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior.</p> <p><em>In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation which the family will present to the Casselton Parks and Rec.</em></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center</strong></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><strong>westfuneralhome.com</strong></p>Obituary
