On Sunday, the world lost an amazing woman to us she was Mommy, Gram and GG to many more she was a sister, friend and the kind of woman you would want praying for you, loving you and fighting in your corner.  
For all of us that were lucky to know and experience "Catherine" we have an amazing angel watching over us from Heaven.  A piece of our hearts left with her, but we know she will keep it safe until we see her again.


Catherine A. MacFarland (nee Alminde), 91, formerly of Philadelphia, passed on April 5, 2020 at St. Joseph Villa in Flourtown.  She was the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes Alminde.

She is survived by her children Karen McCloskey (James), Joan Rook, Christine Pizzulli (Cosimo), David F. MacFarland Jr., and Stephanie Ellis, her sister Sr. Joan Alminde SSJ, her brother Paul Alminde, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband David F. MacFarland Sr., her sisters Mary Ann Judge, and Clare Foster, her brother Rev. Joseph Alminde SJ, her son in law Andrew Rook, and her daughter in law Sara MacFarland (nee Raudenbush)

Catherine was a long time member of St. Timothy Parish in Philadelphia.

Catherine retired from her position as administrative assistant to the Dean of Students at St. Joseph Preparatory High School, after 20 years of service.  In recognition of her outstanding contribution, she was awarded the Ignatian Medal.

Relatives and friends are invited to Catherine’s Funeral Mass on Saturday September 12, 2020 at 10am at St. Basil the Great RC Church, 2330 Kimberton Rd.  Phoenixville, PA 19460 (http://www.stbasils.org/).  Visitation in church from 9am to 10am.

Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020.
