Robert D. Milito

Robert D. Milito, 87, of Vandergrift, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family in his daughter, Barbara’s residence in La Porte, TX. Born April 15, 1929 in Vandergrift, PA, he was the son of the late James C. and Amelia (Pugliese) Milito. Robert lived his entire life in Vandergrift, PA, except for all the winters he would spend in La Porte, TX with his daughter, Barbara and family. He was a 1946 graduate of Vandergrift High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Robert was a skilled electrician and the owner/operator of Milito Electric, a crane operator for Wean United, and a very well-known school bus driver for over 50 years for Moore School Bus Company. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church and the Vandergrift Sons of Italy, where he served as Past President. Robert was an avid bowler and golfer. His greatest joy in life was his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josephine A. (Julian) Milito on September 24, 2014; son, Michael Milito; and sister, Jackie Hermann. Surviving are his daughters, Connie (Ron) Richardson, of Washington Township, Barbara E. Carnahan, of La Porte, TX; daughter-in-law, Debra Milito, of Babylon, NY; grandchildren, Erin (Michael) Burlowski, of Wooster, OH, Ryan (Martha) Richardson, of Manassas, VA, Jason (Erika) Carnahan, of Pearland, TX, Kevin Carnahan, Justin Young, both of La Porte, TX, Sean (Jeanne Moore) Milito, of W. VA, and Kristen (Gerard) Sawicki, of NY; and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Gavin, Kahlan, Elena, Cameron, and Cooper. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, February 2, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, in the Brady-Curran Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 429 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift, PA. Parting prayers will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 9:30 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift, PA, with Father James Loew, OSB, as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery Mausoleum where full military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to the Milito family.
