Norman Wayne Evans, 83, died Sunday, January 29, 2017, at his residence in Dry Fork, VA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Linda Stewart Evans; one daughter, Teresa Huffman; two sons, Jessie Evans and Wayne Evans; two grandsons, David Ayscue and Bobby Huffman; one special grandson, Timothy Blake; and one great grandchild Caylen Joan Ayscue. Norman was a 20-year Navy veteran and fought in the Vietnam War. He held a special place in his heart for all Veterans, past and present. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Norman worked in security for 30 years. He spent his retirement years doing the things that he loved most: fishing, working in his yard, and spending time with his cherished wife. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Norris, Mt. Hermon Chapel with Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Dan River Post 1097 and the US Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
