Omer Leo Cormier

Omer Leo Cormier, 75, of Chesapeake, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Omer was born in Fitchburg, MA to the late Omer J. and Beatrice L. Cormier. He proudly served in the US Army and retired from Nova Chemicals after a long career in plastics manufacturing. He was an Honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus Chesapeake Council 8240 and volunteered for many years with Lee’s Friends and Meals on Wheels. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Paulette of 52 years; sons, Brian Cormier, Dana Cormier, Chris Cormier and wife Stephanie; grandchildren, Brayden and Olivia; sisters Anne Bouchard(Roger), Jeanne Harris(Tom), Diane McAllister(Bob); a brother David Cormier; and many nieces and nephews.   A Mass of the Resurrection to celebrate Omer’s life will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, on Saturday, February 4, at 10am, with the burial following in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. A Wake Service will be held from 6 to 8pm, Friday, February 3, at Oman Funeral Home and Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Thomas Mauser and his staff.
