Stella Mary (Lefkowitch) Wentzell, 93, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts died peacefully on January 29, 2017 at The Atrium at Drum Hill in North Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Stella was born on December 31, 1923 in Haverhill, Massachusetts, Stella is predeceased by her parents, William and Polly Lefkowitch of Haverhill, Massachusetts, sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and Charles Gascora also of Haverhill, Massachusetts and brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Cecelia Lewis of North Reading, Massachusetts. Our hearts are heavy with loss, but we celebrate the importance of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Stella is survived by her husband Robert J. Wentzell currently of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, son and daughter -in-law Alan and Tiffany Wentzell of Tyngsboro, MA, her grandchildren, Samantha Wentzell of Waltham, MA and Benjamin Wentzell of Tyngsboro, MA, a sister-in-law Katherine O Neill of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, 9 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. Stella was a graduate of Burdette (School) College in Boston, Massachusetts. After her marriage to Robert Wentzell in 1955 she was a homemaker to her husband and son. She worked as a secretary for the town of Wilmington, Massachusetts school system from 1964 until 1982. In 1969 she joined with her husband, Robert and son Alan in the ownership and operation of Swan Pond Family Campground in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. She and her husband retired in 1986 and resided in both Naples, Florida and Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia until 5 years before her passing. Stella enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who she loves so much and is so proud of. She was very creative and loved crafting. She learned tole painting, bow and wreath decorating as well as braiding and hooking rugs. Stella loved animals. There was never a time when her home was not filled with at least one cat or dog. In her later years her Pomeranian “Willy” was a great comfort to her and was by her side night and day. Stella was lovingly cared for during the last 5 years of her life by her son Alan, daughter-in-law Tiffany and staff members and caregivers at The Atrium at Drum Hill. The family gives them and everyone else who cared for Stella their greatest gratitude. In keeping with the wishes of Stella there will be no funeral services. Stella’s life will be celebrated privately at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
