Rhonda Jean Weston Kelowna, British Columbia Obituary

Rhonda Jean Weston

Rhonda Jean Weston passed away on January 14th, 2017 at the Central Okanagan Hospice House at the age of 58, surrounded by her loved ones. Rhonda was a breast cancer survivor for over 5 years and unfortunately it came back suddenly in November. She was an amazing single mother to her 3 children, Wade, Eva, and Ross. While life isn’t always fair she did the best job in preparing us kids for adulthood and we are so grateful to have had the time that we did with her. Rhonda was a brilliant artist, she practiced in photography and ran a successful photography business for many years before she moved on to other things. She was very entrepreneurial and started a gift basket company in the Okanagan and served many of the wineries, grocery stores, and businesses all while raising 3 kids on her own. She then continued her education and completed her Bachelors in Fine Arts Degree here at UBCO where one of her pieces (a fire blanket in memory of the 2003 Okanagan Mountain Park Fire) is still on display at the Rotary Centre. Rhonda always did whatever she could for us kids and made sure each of us had the opportunity to pursue our dreams. She put Wade through post-secondary education where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, she put Eva through post-secondary education where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and she has put Ross through post-secondary who is currently studying Earth Sciences. Rhonda’s passions in life were gardening (even weed pulling and raking!), lapidary arts, walks down to the beach, but most importantly making others feel happy and loved. Anyone who knew Rhonda knows her generosity was her greatest attribute and bringing others happiness brought her happiness. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on February 19th, 2017 at First Baptist Church – 1309 Bernard Ave, Kelowna BC, V1Y 6R5. It will be officiated by Pastor Wayne Laurie followed by a few stories and speech’s by loved ones. If you would like to say something about Rhonda please email eva-jean@hotmail.com as she is coordinating the ceremony. To follow the service there will be appetizers and refreshments. Should you choose to make a donation on Rhonda’s behalf please donate to the Central Okanagan Hospice House as they did so much for our family and kept her so comfortable during her stay. Thank you for all your love and support during these times and should you wish to send condolences please email eva-jean@hotmail.com. Arrangements entrusted with Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Road Kelowna, BC, V1Y 4R5.
