Bruce R. Hargis

Bruce Robert Hargis, 75, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh, WI. He suffered from Parkinson's with Lewy Body Dementia. Bruce was born in Auburn, CA on August 26, 1941. Bruce retired after 20 years of service in 2000 from the State of Wisconsin, Department of Corrections, Wisconsin Resource Center as a Captain. Bruce served in 2 branches of the Military, United States Marine Corps and the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged from both. He was active duty for parts of the Vietnam War. Bruce loved life and always felt that if you are going to do something, you better do it 100% or don't do it at all. He will be remembered by many as an easy going, laid back type of guy. Bruce and his wife traveled a lot when they retired and enjoyed going to every movie that came out. Services: There will be a Celebration of Bruce's Life on Monday, January 23, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. Private family committal prayers will take place at the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Affinity Visiting Nurses. The family extends their deepest thanks to Affinity Hospice and Bethel Home of Oshkosh.
