Viola Lies
Viola Lies, 89, of Evansdale died Saturday, January 14 at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo. She was born April 12, 1927 in rural Blackhawk County daughter of Ernest and Adell Perry Ackerman. She married Robert L. Lies on February 14, 1947 in Dubuque. He died December 19, 2007. Viola worked for the Rath Meat Packing Plant for over 30 years until her retirement in 1984. Survivors include: a son, Donald (Cameon) Lies of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Diana (Denny) Mingus of Evandale; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and three step- grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: her parents; her husband; a sister, Bertha Powers; and a grandson Scott Lies. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Waterloo with burial in St. Athanasius Cemetery in Jesup. Public visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South St. where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion of Mary rosary. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to the family.April 12, 1927 - January 14, 201704/12/192701/14/2017
