Obituary
Bonnie Ann Riggle, 87, of Washington Township, PA, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017. Bonnie Ann was born December 12, 1929, in Gilpin Township, PA to the late Ralph”Harley” and Veronica (Peterson) Reed. Bonnie attended Apollo high school. Bonnie came from a family of musicians. She was a talented organist and sang beautifully. She also loved boating, and made lifelong friends at Rossten Eddy Marina in Ford City. Her husband Paul had named all of their boats the “Bonnie Ann” after his beautiful wife. Bonnie also helped her husband build Paul Riggle & Sons Trucking, which eventually was named P&B Transportation, for Paul and Bonnie. She retired from the company in 1980. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook, enjoyed puzzles, embroidery and playing card games and Yahtzee. Bonnie enjoyed life to the fullest and loved to go out for an evening of dinner and gambling with her best friend Mana Levier. She also loved spending time with her wonderful friends in Myrtle Beach, Don and Sandy Honeycut. Bonnie lived with and was lovingly cared for by her daughter Carol over the last few years of her life, and with her family surrounding her in her home, she peacefully went home to be with her Lord. Bonnie was a member of Saint Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore. In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Paul J. Riggle, Jr, her sister Shirley, and five brothers; James, Robert, John, Gene, and Carl, her sister-in-law Barbara, a granddaughter Tammy and a great grandson Garrett. She is survived by her brother Daniel (Petie) Reed of Hilliard, OH, her brother-in-law Mark (Debbie) Riggle of Blairsville, sister-in-law Shirley (Jack) Whitlinger of Apollo, her four children: Carol Williams of Washington Township, Paul (Nancy) Riggle of Washington Township, Daniel (Sue) Riggle of Apollo, and Patrick (Shelley) Riggle of Washington Township. She was loved and adored by her 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, and all of her many wonderful nieces and nephews. Bonnie was compassionately cared for by her great granddaughter Maryssa, her niece Chris Martin, her grandson David and granddaughter Joyce, and the nurses of Caring Hospice, most especially Nancy Fawcet. Friends will be received on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in St. James Roman Catholic Church, Apollo, with Father Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Bonnie’s name to St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618.
