Dennis O’Brien, 59 of Des Moines passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. Per his wishes cremation has taken place at Johnson Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Stuart. Private family committal service will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com. Dennis was born on September 16, 1957 to Thomas A. and Helen (Mikesell) O’Brien in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked for ADT in Des Moines for nearly 40 years. He was married to Cindy for over 10 years and remained very close friends throughout the years. Denny especially loved watching the Iowa Hawkeyes Football and Basketball teams. He was very proud that his two daughters attended the University of Iowa; Nikki graduated in 2015 and Lexxi set to graduate in 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents: Helen and Thomas O’Brien Jr. He leaves behind his daughters: Nikki O’Brien of Minneapolis and Lexxi O’Brien of Ankeny; special friend, Cindy O’Brien of Ankeny; brothers: Steve (Sue) O’Brien of Indianola and Tom (Janet) O’Brien of Windsor Heights; and a host of other family and friends that will miss him dearly.
