Sue Sarason

Sue Stanfill Johnson Noel Davis Sarason of Greenville died peacefully at home Sunday, January 15, 2017. Born in Greenwood on October 19, 1921, to Chester Arthur and Katie Ranier Johnson, she graduated from Gulf Park College. During WWII she married Klein Daniel Noel, Sr. who was stationed at the Greenville Air Base. They had two children, Catherine Varee Noel and Klein Daniel Noel, Jr. Following her husband’s death in 1960, she was married to Leon Curtis Davis until his death in 1981. In 1990 she married Kenneth Sarason; they enjoyed traveling and retirement until his death in 2012. She was a communicant at St. James Episcopal Church for over fifty years. She often said she was blessed with two parents who loved her, three good husbands, two loving children, and a wonderful grandson. In addition to being devoted to her family, she loved her job as a preschool teacher at First Methodist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents C.A. and Katie Johnson; husbands Klein Daniel Noel, Sr., Leon Curtis Davis, and Kenneth A. Sarason; son Klein Daniel Noel, Jr., and sister Doris Johnson Eustis. She is survived by daughter Catherine Noel Ellsworth of Vero Beach, Florida; grandson Charles Ellsworth of Swan Valley, Idaho; daughter-in-law Wanda Laye Noel of Olive Branch, Mississippi; step-granddaughter Jessica Epting of Southaven, Mississippi; stepsons Jerome Sarason of Alberquerque, New Mexico, Ramon Sarason of Alberquerque, New Mexico, and Jay Sarason of Monte Vista, Colorado; stepdaughters Yolanda Sarason Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Katie Sarason White of Lakewood, Colorado; nieces Laura Eustis Siriani of Tustin, California, and Susan Eustis Darby of Arley, Alabama; nephew Chester Miller of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and a special friend Anita Holland Pringle of Spring Hill, Tennessee. She was especially grateful to her devoted caregivers Parlee Richardson and Bobbie Williams. Visitation will be at 1:30 Sunday, January 22, 2017, at St. James Episcopal Church in Greenville; a service celebrating her life will follow at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.
