Opal Omegine Jones Haynes, age 85 of Cornelia, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. Born in White County, Georgia on March 17, 1935 to the late Jiles Benson “J.B.” Jones and Ida Lovonia Satterfield Kimsey. Mrs. Haynes retired from Coats & Clark with 25 years of service and also worked with Belk in Cornelia. She later obtained her CNA certificate and worked Habersham Home East. She enjoyed shopping, going to church and helping others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer R. Haynes; son, Rocky Helton; brothers, Roger Jones and Merle Jones. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-law, Randy & Malissa Helton of Cleveland, Danny Helton of Clarkesville and Sammy Holbrooks of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Roxanne Helton, Andy Holbrooks, T.J. Helton and Samantha Willard; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Hart of Midland, Texas; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends. In consideration of public health & safety, a private graveside service will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens with Pastor Phil Yarber officiating.
